Restful Platters.

One of the latest themes I have been working on are my “Restful Platters”. These are large plates that I use like a canvas to mark and paint on. They are figurative paintings using ceramic colours and glazes.

Firstly I etch into the clay, pressing flowers, leaves and other impressions to get my initial image onto the clay surface. The next process is to play with glazes coloured clay and other colourants.

I want to evoke feelings of rest and peace, also a sense of quietness and contentment.

The platters are proving popular, and have been happily selling themselves in various galleries that supply my work.
